Snowflake
This was part of the decor at the Winter City Lodge at Nathan Phillips Square.
They made the lodge into a dance club complete with bouncers with a velvet rope. They made us line up for a while outside even though there's plenty of room inside. Too funny.
Also funny is this list of creation science friendly science fair topics.

Fake Pleather
A shot of Tonya's fake pleather jacket. More things should be made out of fake pleather.

Gottogo
Active Surplus. Go there. The entertainment value alone makes the trip worthwhile. Not to mention the portable disposable toilets for 99 cents! How can you beat that?!.

Woolwich is Hockeyville
While in St. Jacobs over this past weekend for Tonya's Grandma's 83rd birthday, we discovered that Woolwich is running for the title of Hockeyville 2009 (St. Jacobs is part of Woolwich township). It turns out that they've made it into the top 5!
The list of known contenders to date are:
Spot 1: Terrace, BC
Spot 2: Harbour Grace, NFLD
Spot 3: Woolwich, ON
Spot 4: Humboldt, SK
Spot 5: Announced February 21, during Hockey Night in Canada
See for an intro to each finalist town.
In support of their town, many residents have put up hockey-related displays in their yards. This was one of the best in my opinion.
In 11 days, (Feb 28th I think) voting begins for Hockeyville 2009.

Carbage
An excellent example of carbage. Found on St. George street near Dupont. I'm not sure if you get a full sense of it, but there's barely enough room in the car for the driver to sit.
I wonder if the driver has plans for valentine's day. S/he'd better clean up that passenger seat quickly if so.
Tonya and I are against this upcoming artificial industry created holiday. However, it's turning out to be hard to ignore. It's obviously difficult to hang out with couples as most have their own plans. But singles are having their own parties where we don't fit either. Stupid holiday.
Bike Tricks
Bike Tricks, originally uploaded by tilak.dutta.
There were three bikers at Nathan Philips Square last weekend demonstrating bike tricks. We didn't notice they don't have seats on their bikes until they mentioned it.

Food Challenge
Sushi Timelapse (x4), originally uploaded by tilak.dutta.
Dale takes on a food challenge. He is to eat the same amount of sushi as Tonya and I eat combined. Dale weighs ~120lbs soaking wet.
The plate closest to the camera is Dale's...Tonya and I are eating off the far plate. Here is a timelapse of the fateful meal.

Happy New Year
Better late than never...
I have a camera taking a picture every 15 minutes from Tonya's apartment. This is the series of pictures from New Year's Day 2009 from midnight to midnight (96 pictures). This is my first attempt at stitching them all together.
Cheap Seats
Kevin Smith invites some of the audience in the cheap seats to come sit on stage. Kevin Smith and Jason Mews (Jay and Silent Bob) put on a great show on Friday. Coincidentally, we ran into Jason Mews and his wife at Young and Dundas square on Saturday. We were big nerds and decided to go up to them to thank them for the great performance. I love how Kevin and Jason are the opposite of their Jay and Silent Bob characters. Kevin does most of the talking and Jason is the quiet one.

WSIB
I dropped off our WSIB grant proposal 40 minutes before the deadline earlier today. I noticed the CN Tower was reflected on the WSIB building at 200 Front Street West.
